VIATICUM 2…

VIATICUM 2 (“Volunteers In Action To Improve Competences Under Mission”) is an international initiative funded by the Erasmus+ program. Its mission is to professionalize and modernize the training of civil protection volunteers across the European Union.

Building on the success of its predecessor, this project evolves to integrate cutting-edge digital tools and new emergency response methodologies, strengthening community resilience against natural disasters and climate-related crises.

Main Objectives

  • Modernizing Training: Developing advanced educational resources, including the expansion of the European Volunteer Rescuer Manual with new specialized chapters.

  • Technological Innovation: Integrating Virtual Reality (VR) into Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) training to provide safe, realistic, and immersive simulations.

  • Field Accessibility: Creating a multilingual Pocket Rescue Manual for quick reference during emergency interventions.

  • Transnational Cooperation: Strengthening the collaboration network between rescue organizations from Italy, France, Greece, Denmark, Hungary, and Spain.

The Role of Serendepia Lab

As a strategic partner in Spain, Serendepia Lab leads the dissemination, awareness, and civic engagement efforts. Our work focuses on:

  • Awareness Campaigns: Promoting the value of volunteering and rescue techniques among citizens.

  • Institutional Partnerships: Building bridges with educational centers and local governments to integrate VIATICUM 2 methodologies into technical and social training.

  • Digital Transformation: Collaborating on the validation of Virtual Reality tools and ensuring that technological innovation is accessible and inclusive for all volunteer profiles.

Expected Results

The project will directly impact over 500 European volunteers, providing them with enhanced technical skills, greater psychological resilience, and next-generation digital tools to save lives and mitigate risks across the continent.
